The Australian Devotees of Our Lady of Penafrancia under the guidance of the Filipino Chaplaincy, Diocese of Parramatta and the Basilica of Penafrancia is devoted to the propagation of the devotion to Our Lady of Penafrancia. History suggests that the image of Our Lady was miraculously discovered in the hills of Spain and was accompanied by a number of miracles. This image was taken to the Philippines by missionaries and following a number of other instances of divine assistance, churches and devotions were established. In 2006 a replica of the image was brought to Australia and the Bishop of the Diocese of Parramatta was asked if he would find a church where the image could be displayed and devotions held. It was approved that the image be placed in the church of St Nicholas of Myra at Penrith on 6 September 2006. Novena masses are held monthly on the 1st Saturday of the month at 11:00 am. The Feast of Our Lady of Penafrancia is held on 3rd Saturday of the September with a concelebrated mass at St Nicholas of Myra, fluvial procession at the Nepean River and fellowship, program and entertainment at the Tench Reserve.
ADOLP is inviting everyone to visit our Lady of Penafrancia at St Nicholas of Myra Church and join us in our 1st Saturday monthly novena masses. For details, please contact Jun Relunia on 0419-233-643.
